Steward's Report
A pre-race sample was taken from Still in love
Devante was dircted to undergo a post-race veterinary examination after faltering entering the back straight and lost ground as a result.
Stewards spoke to Stephen Bruce (via telephone), the trainer of Devante after they left the course today without Stewards permission and without having the greyhound vetted following the event. Stewards directed Mr Bruce to present Devante at the Warrnambool Greyhound Racing Club for a veterinary examination on the 23 January 2023. Stewards will finalise an inquiry with Mr Bruce at a later date.
A post-race sample was taken from Smooth Talker - the winner of the event.

Devante was presented at Warrnambool on 23 January 2023 for a veterinary examination and was found to have a right carpal sprain - a 10 day standown period was imposed.
Stewards spoke with Mr Bruce regarding leaving Sandown on 22 January 2023 without getting Devante vetted. Stewards issued Mr Bruce with a warning pursuant to GAR 94(2).
