Riley Boy was slow to begin. Warunda Magic checked off Miss Delight approaching the 250 metre mark. Miss Delight and Ragtime Lucy collided approaching the 250 metre mark checking Ragtime Lucy. Senor Benjamin and Jarry Reg collided approaching the 200 metre mark causing Jarry Reg to check off Senor Benjamin. Senor Benjamin and Ragtime Lucy collided approaching the 150 metre mark and again approaching the 100 metre mark.
