Lektra Leroy – Late scratching at 9:10 am when trainer, Phillip Lenehan reported the greyhound to have back soreness (GAR 76).  A 10 day standown period was imposed.  Stewards will require a veterinary certificate pursuant to GAR 19(3)(w) before any future nomination will be accepted.

A pre–race sample was unable to be obtained from Hatenna Bale, a post–race sample was subsequently taken.

I'm Talking checked and faltered on the first turn, tailed off and underwent a post–race veterinary examination and was found to have a right hindleg hock fracture.  A 90 day stand down period was imposed.

A post–race sample was taken from Kelsey Bale – the winner of the event in a track record time of 24:682.

Matt's Hope – Late scratching at 1:19 pm when trainer, Michelle Mallia reported the greyhound to have soreness to the left calf (GAR 76).  A 10 day standown period was imposed.  Stewards will require a veterinary certificate pursuant to GAR 19(3)(w) before any future nomination will be accepted.

A post–race sample was taken from Unleash Collinda – the winner of the event.

Supplementary Report 28/4/23: Trainer Jason Thompson notified Stewards, in accordance with GAR 122, that Unleash Collinda was observed to have an injured monkey muscle and will be withdrawn from the Warrnambool Cup Final.

Dundee Smokey was slow to begin.

Dundee Smokey checked and contacted the rail in the back straight and underwent a post–race veterinary examination – no apparent injury was reported.

A post–race sample was taken from Cashing Cheques – the winner of the event.

Jebediah was quick to begin.

A post–race sample was taken from Crackerjack Aret – the winner of the event.

Trainer, Graeme Jose was issued with a warning under GAR156(f) for negligence, after the greyhound Aston Salma was placed in the incorrect kennel during the kennelling process. 

Club Officials were reminded of their responsibilities after the greyhound Aston Salma was placed in the incorrect kennel during the kennelling process.  This matter was referred to the Club Manager for further consideration and remediation.

Boo Boo Billy, One's Obsession and Mr. Beets were quick to begin.  Eskimo Roger was slow to begin.

Boo Boo Billy underwent a post–race veterinary examination and was found to have right hindleg hamstrings and spike wound injuries.  A 10 day stand down period was imposed. Stewards spoke to kennel representative Mr. Brett Mackie regarding the racing manners of Boo Boo Billy approaching the winning post. After hearing submissions from Mr. Mackie, viewing the available race footage, and having their own observations, Stewards took no further action. 

A post–race sample was taken from Zella Bale – the winner of the event.

Silver Brute underwent a post–race veterinary examination and was found to have a right foreleg monkey muscle injury.  A five day stand down period was imposed.  Stewards spoke to trainer, Gary Peach regarding Silver Brute's overall performance in the event.  In accordance with GAR 122, the Stewards requested Mr Peach to report as soon as practicable anything that may have affected the running of Silver Brute in the event, which was not noted by Stewards during or immediately after the event.

A post–race sample was taken from Crackerjack Bull – the winner of the event.

Kai Bale – The frequency of racing was discussed with representative Neil Jones – Stewards noted these comments.

My Neo, Move Away and Mi Amigo Tequila were quick to begin.  Crackerjack Boom and Panama Pepper were slow to begin.

A post–race sample was taken from Kai Bale – the winner of the event.

Minoli Magic, Vans Turbo and Ricky Bobby Riot were quick to begin.  Vancluse Bale was slow to begin.

Aston Malle and Thybulle Bale were quick to begin.  Simba's Girl was slow to begin.

In accordance with LR 40.2, Participants Callie Wilson, Stephen Tabb, David Geall and Taylor Rollings were issued with a warning regarding non–compliance with the GRV Dress Standards.
