Steward's Report
An out of competition sample was taken from Spring Gonzales on 28 February 2023 pursuant to GAR 139.
Spring Gonzales was slow to begin. Hail Zeus was very slow to begin (5 lengths).
Red's Shout (severely checked and fell on the first turn), underwent a post–race veterinary examination and was found to have a fractured right fore leg. A 90 day stand down period was imposed.
Prince Of Melton (severely checked and fell on the first turn), underwent a post–race veterinary examination and was found to have a left back muscle, right quadricep injury and a chest injury. A 14 day stand down period was imposed.
Queen of Stripes (checked on the first turn and lost ground approaching the home turn) underwent a post–race veterinary examination and was found to have a right back muscle injury. A 60 day stand down period was imposed.
Following the running of this event, Stewards inspected the track on the first turn to the home turn and deemed it satisfactory for racing.
