Steward's Report
Crackerjack Boom– Late scratching at 10:02am when trainer, Jordan Cooper reported the greyhound to have an illness. (GAR 76). A 10 day stand down period was imposed. Stewards will require a veterinary certificate pursuant to GAR 19(3)(w) before any future nominations will be accepted.
Solar Toby was slow to begin.
A post–race sample was taken from Crackerjack Rob – the winner of the event.
Racing was indefinitely delayed at 3.44pm due to an electrical fault with the crane operating the 410m boxes and the boxes being unable to be moved or corrected into the correct position for racing. Track maintenance staff were afforded the opportunity to fix the crane but were unable to do so by around 4.45pm. As the boxes remained on the track, and could not be moved without the crane, 485m races also could not be undertaken in this time period. Shorty thereafter though, the 410m boxes were removed from the track, thus enableing 485m races to be undertaken. The Stewards abandoned races 2 and 3 at around 4.45pm, pursuant to GAR 110 (4). All bets on greyhounds in the abandoned races are to be refunded. The weights recorded for the greyhounds in the abandoned races are void and do not count for the purposes of the weight rule at the greyhounds’ next start. Prizemoney to be split evenly between the competing greyhounds, at the time of abandonment.
Races 4-7 were over the 485m and were re-scheduled as follows:
Stewards afforded track staff the opportunity to rectify the mechanical issue whilst races 4-7 proceeded. At 5.45pm, track staff notified Stewards that the issue had been rectified. Subsequently, races 8-12 were accordingly re-scheduled as follows:
Race 8 - 6.18pm
Race 9 - 6.35pm
Race 10 - 6.57pm
Race 11 - 7.13pm
Race 12 - 7.29pm
Trainers and attendants with runners in races 10, 11, and 12 were given the opportunity to allow their greyhounds to refresh and empty out prior to the running of race 8.
