In accordance with the GRV Hot Weather Policy, this meeting was deemed 'Heat Affected'. At the commencement of kennelling, the outside temperature was 29.1 degrees and the kennel temperature was 16.6 degrees. The Stewards continually monitored the temperature at the venue as per the GRV Hot Weather Policy.

Tennison – Late scratching at 12:26pm due to the greyhound being on season in accordance with GAR 77. A 28 day stand down period was imposed.

Launch Code – New declared weight of 33.3kg, last raced at 32.2kg.

Launch Code was quick to begin. Nicola Rose went up with the lids and was very slow to begin (4L). Nicola Rose raced wide in the front straight.

Condor Avenue failed to enter the catching pen, underwent a post-race veterinary examination - no apparent injury was reported. Stewards spoke to trainer Mr. M Callanan regarding the greyhound pulling up prior to the return gate and failing to enter the catching pen. After hearing evidence from Mr. Callanan, viewing the available race footage and acting on their observations, a warning was issued.

Mighty Lucifer failed to enter the catching pen, underwent a post-race veterinary examination - no apparent injury was reported. Stewards spoke to trainer Mr. J. Brown regarding the greyhound pulling up prior to the return gate and failing to enter the catching pen. After hearing evidence from Mr. Brown, viewing the available race footage and acting on their observations, a warning was issued.

Bad Ringo marred Mighty Lucifer in the home straight and failed to enter the catching pen, underwent a post-race veterinary examination - no apparent injury was reported. Stewards spoke to trainer Mr A. Wood regarding the greyhound pulling up prior to the return gate and failing to enter the catching pen. After viewing the available race footage and acting on their observations, a warning was issued. Stewards spoke to trainer Mr. Wood regarding Bad Ringo's racing manners in the front straight. Acting under the provisions of GAR 123 Bad Ringo was charged with marring. Mr. Wood pled guilty to the charge, Bad Ringo was found guilty and suspended for 28 days all tracks and must perform a Satisfactory Trial in accordance with GAR 127, and pursuant to GAR 132, before any future nomination will be accepted.

A post-race sample was taken from Launch Code - the winner of the event. When questioned regarding the performance of Launch Code and subsequent betting fluctuations, trainer Mr. L Pisano stated that he was expecting a strong performance in today's event and that the greyhound had trialled well at Sandown in recent weeks since last racing at The Meadows on 30.11.2022. Mr. Pisano stated that he had not supported the greyhound in today's event. Stewards noted Mr. Pisano's comments.
