Steward's Report
Zoha Bale, Sonic Shockwave and Sweaty Hand were quick to begin. Mr. Fawnstone was slow to begin and Wadelock Harry was very slow to begin (3L).
Sweaty Hand was severely checked and fell approaching the second turn, underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have a left-hind spike wound injury. A 10 day stand down period was imposed.
Quest For Extra raced ungenerously approaching the second turn, underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have a left-fore deltoid muscle injury. A 10 day stand down period was imposed. Stewards spoke to Trainer Ms. Michelle Mallia regarding Quest For Extra's racing manners approaching the second turn. After hearing evidence from Ms. Mallia, viewing all the available race footage and acting on their own observations, Stewards issued a warning to connections regarding the greyhound's racing manners. In arriving at this decision, Stewards took into heavy consideration the fact of Sweaty Hand falling in front of Quest For Extra and the possible effect this incident would have had on the racing manners of Quest For Extra approaching the second turn. Stewards were of the belief that the option to charge Quest For Extra for failing to pursue the lure with due commitment was open to them, but declined to do so in the belief that this would have been contrary to the intentions and the spirit of the rules.
Mr. Fawnstone raced ungenerously approaching the second turn, underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have a minor right-hind spike wound injury. No stand down period was imposed. Stewards spoke to Trainer Mr. Reginald Boyce regarding Mr. Fawnstone's racing manners approaching the second turn.
