Steward's Report
A sample was taken from Big Bertha upon arrival at the course.
Big Bertha was slow to begin.
Cawbourne Roses, underwent a post–race veterinary examination due to a racing incident on the home turn and was found to have a hamstring injury. A 5 day stand down period was imposed. Stewards spoke to representative Mr D. Chapman regarding Cawbourne Roses’ racing manners on the home turn. Acting under the provisions of GAR 125, Cawbourne Roses was charged with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment (by reason of injury). Mr Chapman pled not guilty to the charge, Cawbourne Roses was found guilty and must perform a satisfactory trial in accordance with GAR 125, and pursuant to GAR 132, before any future nomination will be accepted.
Radek Bale commenced to give ground leaving the back straight (on the second occasion), underwent a post–race veterinary examination - no apparent injury was reported. When questioned regarding Radek Bale’s performance, trainer Mr. Thomas Dailly advised Stewards that he was disappointed in the greyhounds' performance over the 730m distance and referenced the previous run at Sandown. After monitoring the greyhounds' behaviour between runs, Mr. Dailly expected the greyhound to be more competitive. Mr. Dailly also added that he did not support the greyhound in tonight’s event and advised Stewards that Radek Bale will be nominated for distances over the 500-600m in future. Stewards noted his comments.
