Steward's Report
Evie Jean was quick to begin. Playmaker was slow to begin.
Evie Jean faltered approaching the home turn, underwent a post–race veterinary examination and was found to have a right metacarpal fracture. A 60 day stand down period was imposed.
Flying Farrugia underwent a post–race veterinary examination – no apparent injury was reported. Stewards spoke to trainer Mr. Keith Lloyd regarding Flying Farrugia’s racing manners in the home straight. Acting under the provisions of GAR 123 Flying Farrugia was charged with marring. Mr. Lloyd pled guilty to the charge, Flying Farrugia was found guilty and suspended for 28 days at Geelong and must perform a Satisfactory Trial in accordance with GAR 127, and pursuant to GAR 132, before any future nomination will be accepted.
A post–race sample was taken from Kanji Utility – the winner of the event.
