Steward's Report
Worry Less – Late scratching at 9.16am when Trainer Mr. T. Britton reported the greyhound to be ill (GAR 76). A 10 day stand down period was imposed. Stewards will require a veterinary certificate pursuant to GAR 19(3)(w) before any future nomination will be accepted.
A sample was taken from Just Shout upon arrival at the course.
Tinker Murphy, Just Shout and Rose Quartz were quick to begin.
Just Shout underwent a post–race veterinary examination - no apparent injury was reported. Trainer Mr. J. Callus declined the option to have the greyhound re-examined by the On-Track Veterinarian. Stewards spoke to Mr. Callus regarding the greyhound’s racing manners in the back straight and again entering the home straight. Acting under the provisions of GAR 124 Just Shout was charged with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment. Mr Callus pled guilty to the charge, Just Shout was suspended for 28 days at Geelong only and must perform a satisfactory trial in accordance with GAR 127 and GAR 132, before any future nomination will be accepted. Mr Callus advised that he will be considering the greyhound's future in his kennel.
