Steward's Report
All persons attending today wore facemasks when required, checked in, observed social distance requirements, and provided satisfactory evidence of double vaccination or exemption under the State Government’s mandatory vaccination directions (as of 26 November 2021) that in-turn, permitted entry to the venue.
Sahara Castle, Mcivor Roxy and Brightly Staring collided on the first turn, checking all three greyhounds. Sahara Castle and Mcivor Roxy collided entering the back straight and again in the back straight, checking both greyhounds. Cool Whip and Spray On Billy collided approaching the home turn. Brightly Staring and Gem Victorem collided approaching the home turn, checking both greyhounds. Brightly Staring and Gem Victorem collided approaching the home turn, checking Gem Victorem. Spray On Billy visibly eased and turned its head inwards and collided with Cool Whip in the home straight.
Spray On Billy underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have a left triangle injury. A 5 day stand down period was imposed.
Stewards spoke to Mr G.Cowcher, the trainer of Spray On Billy regarding the greyhound’s racing manners in the home straight. Acting under the provisions of GAR 69A(1) Spray On Billy was charged with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment. Mr Cowcher pleaded guilty to the charge, Spray On Billy was found guilty and suspended for 28 days at Bendigo and must perform a Satisfactory Trial in accordance with GAR 69A (2) and pursuant to GAR 72, before any future nomination will be accepted.
