A pre-race sample was taken from Trending Power.
Just Gab was quick to begin.
Aston Dynasty, Just Gab, Rock Opera and Trending Power collided on the first turn checking Rock Opera and severely checking Aston Dynasty. Night Jar and Kazoo Giblet collided on the first turn. Just Gab visibly eased approaching the home turn.
Just Gab underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have no apparent injury. Trainer Mr Raymond Gatt declined the option to have the greyhound re-vetted. Stewards spoke to Mr. Gatt regarding the greyhound’s racing manners approaching the home turn. Acting under the provisions of GAR 69A(1) Just Gab was charged with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment. Mr. Gatt pleaded not guilty to the charge, Just Gab was found guilty and suspended for 28 days at Ballarat only and must perform a satisfactory trial in accordance with GAR 69A(2) and GAR 72, before any future nomination will be accepted.
