Essential persons (both staff & participants) attending today, provided satisfactory evidence of vaccination or exemption under the State Government’s mandatory vaccination (workers) directions, undertook successful health screenings, wore facemasks, observed social distance requirements, and adhered to room density quotients that in-turn, permitted entry to the venue for exclusive race-day functions and operations.

Bolt For Biers was slow to begin.

Lektra Asha crossed to the rail soon after the start and collided with Smiley Clancy.  Smiley Clancy and Serving Soldier collided on the first turn.  Vans Turbo and Smiley Clancy collided approaching the home turn.  Serving Soldier checked off Chessmen in the home straight.

Port Flyer was slow to begin.

Lektra Dish crossed in on the first turn; checking Zara's Princess and Moraine Holly; severely checking Sugar Freak.  Happy Franklin and Port Flyer collided on the first turn; checking both greyhounds.  Happy Franklin galloped on the heels of Port Flyer entering the home straight.  Happy Franklin and Port Flyer collided in the home straight.

A post-race sample was taken from Zara's Princess - the winner of the event.

Acting in accordance with the GRV Lightning and Thunderstorm Safety Procedure, racing was suspended at 6:50 pm due to rain, lightning and thunderstorm activity within the designated safety zone around the Warrnambool venue.  Due to safety concerns the meeting was delayed sixteen minutes and races re–scheduled accordingly.  All races were amended to the following times: Race 3 - 7:10 pm, Race 4 - 7:31 pm, Race 5 - 7:46 pm, Race 6 - 8:01 pm, Race 7 - 8:16 pm, Race 8 - 8:40 pm; Race 9 - 9:04 pm; Race 10 - 9:25 pm; Race 11 - 9:49 pm and Race 12 - 10:09 pm.

The start was further delayed by approximately eight minutes due to continued adverse weather conditions.

Lala Fig, Tiggerlong Red, Miss Rose Water and Toolong Tiger collided soon after the start; checking Lala Fig and Tiggerlong Red.  Gone Cranky and Toolong Tiger collided on the first turn and again in the home straight.

Worms Are Biting went up with lids at box rise and stumbled.  Raichu and Orson Mick collided approaching the first turn.  Raichu, Princess Barcia and Dark Stormy collided on the home turn, checking Princess Barcia.

Worms Are Biting underwent a post–race veterinary examination – no apparent injury was reported.

The Stewards abandoned tonight’s Warrnambool race-meeting at 8:01 pm in accordance with GAR 57 and the Stewards Lightning and Thunderstorm Procedure due to significant and ongoing lightning strikes causing track lighting to go out and the inherent welfare and safety risks to people, participants, staff and greyhounds.
