Big Alfie was slow to begin.
Saint Mac, Jaggered and Astro Boy collided soon after the start checking Jaggered. Western Blaze, Astro Boy, Weblec Flare and Langfield Bale collided on the first turn checking Western Blazer and Big Alfie. Saint Mac and Big Alfie collided approaching the home turn checking both greyhounds. Western Blazer and Big Alfie collided approaching the home turn. Astro Boy and Weblec Flare collided approaching the winning post.
Western Blazer underwent a post-race veterinary examination and no apparent injury was found.
