Breakaway Benji crossed to the outside soon after the start checking Saint Bluey and Inter Vince. Breakaway Benji, Saint Bluey and Inter Vince collided several times from the 300m mark to the 250m mark. Colossal Fire, Assume Kealy and Boes Bandit collided at the 300m mark. Boes Bandit and Assume Kealy collided at the 100m mark.
Due to a technical malfunction with the timing sensor, the semaphore board briefly displayed the incorrect win time for this event as 19.21; the time was amended to the official win time of 20.03 as the placings were semaphored.
