Steward's Report
An out of competition sample was taken from Gem Victorem on 30 June 2021 pursuant to GAR 79A.
A pre-race sample was taken from He's A Rebel.
Axedale Pirate and Rock Icon were slow to begin. Gem Victorem and He's A Rebel collided soon after the start checking He's A Rebel. Gunai Fay turned its head outwards towards Snow Flake soon after the start checking Snow Flake. Gunai Fay and Gem Victorem collided approaching the first turn severely checking Gem Victorem. Snow Flake checked off Axedale Pirate on the first turn checking He's A Rebel. Gunai Fay and Global Jewel collided approaching the home turn checking Gunai Fay and Princess Vegas. Gunai Fay and Snow Flake collided approaching the home turn.
Stewards spoke to Mr Mark Filomeno, the trainer of Gunai Fay who declined to have the greyhound vetted, regarding the greyhound’s racing manners soon after the start. Acting under the provisions of GAR 69A(1) Gunai Fay was charged with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment. Mr. Filomeno pleaded guilty to the charge, Gunai Fay was found guilty and suspended for 28 days at Shepparton and must perform a Satisfactory Trial in accordance with GAR 69A (2) and pursuant to GAR 72, before any future nomination will be accepted.
