Steward's Report
Kempton Bale was quick to begin. Buster Harley and Riverdale Poppy was slow to begin.
Kempton Bale and Obsession Agogo collided soon after the start checking Obsession Agogo. Seebohm Bale and Union Square collided soon after the start checking both greyhounds. Seebohm Bale and Union Square collided approaching the first turn checking both greyhounds. Buster Harley, Rooney and Confer collided on the first turn. Buster Harley visibly eased and turned its head to the outside approaching the home turn. Confer visibly eased and turned its head inwards approaching the home turn. Obsession Agogo checked off Confer on the home turn.
Buster Harley underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have a right monkey muscle injury and a left triangle muscle injury. A 14 day stand down period was imposed. Stewards spoke to trainer, Mr Geoffrey Mitchell regarding the greyhounds racing manners approaching the home turn. Acting under the provisions of GAR 69A(1) Buster Harley was charged with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment. Mr Mitchell pleaded not guilty to the charge, Buster Harley was found guilty and suspended for 28 days at Geelong only and must perform a Satisfactory Trial in accordance with GAR 69A (2) and GAR 72, before any future nomination will be accepted.
Confer underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have a lumbo-sacral injury. A 5 day stand down period was imposed. Stewards spoke to trainer, Mr Garry Selkrig regarding the greyhounds racing manners approaching the home turn. Acting under the provisions of GAR 69B (1), Confer was charged with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment (by reason of injury). Mr Selkrig pleaded not guilty to the charge, Confer was found guilty and must perform a Satisfactory Trial in accordance with GAR 69B (1) and GAR 72, before any future nomination will be accepted.
