Steward's Report
Hurricane Karin and Gethsemane were slow to begin.
Taking A Toll and Sweaty Hand collided soon after the start. Kira's Choice eased approaching the first turn. Taking A Toll checked off Sweaty Hand on the first turn. Sweaty Hand and Hurricane Daisy collided on the home turn checking Hurricane Daisy. Hurricane Daisy checked off Sweaty Hand entering the home straight. Jessica Pearson and Taking A Toll approaching the winning post.
Kira's Choice underwent a post-race veterinary examination - no apparent injury was reported.
Stewards spoke to Ms Susan Northway, the trainer of Kira's Choice regarding the greyhound’s racing manners approaching the first turn. Acting under the provisions of GAR 69A(1) Kira's Choice was charged with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment. Ms Northway pleaded guilty to the charge, Kira's Choice was found guilty and suspended for 28 days at Warragul and must perform a Satisfactory Trial in accordance with GAR 69A (2) and pursuant to GAR 72, before any future nomination will be accepted.
Mileena underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have a spike wound on the right hind paw. A 5 day stand down period was imposed.
