Steward's Report
All persons attending today wore facemasks when required, checked in, observed social distance requirements, and provided satisfactory evidence of double vaccination or exemption under the State Government’s mandatory vaccination directions (as of 26 November 2021) that in-turn, permitted entry to the venue.
Brian Basilisa and Green Opal were slow to begin.
Saldora and Bunding Boy collided soon after the start checking Saldora. Bahrose, Oboya Bale and Wendy Witch collided soon after the start. Wendy Witch checked off Oboya Bale approaching the first turn checking Bunding Boy. Wendy Witch checked off Saldora on the first turn checking Bunding Boy. Bahrose, Oboya Bale and Green Opal collided on the first turn checking Bahrose. Green Opal turned its head outwards and visibly eased approaching the home turn checking Bahrose, Oboya Bale, Wendy Witch, Brian Basilisa and Saldora, causing Green Opal to fall. Wendy Witch checked off Saldora entering the home straight.
Green Opal underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have a lumbo-sacral injury to the left side, a 10 day stand down period was imposed. Stewards spoke to trainer Mr Neil Lavelle, regarding the greyhounds racing manners approaching the home turn. Acting under the provisions of GAR 69B (1), Green Opal was charged with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment (by reason of injury). Mr. Lavelle pleaded guilty to the charge, Green Opal was found guilty and must perform a Satisfactory Trial in accordance with GAR 69B (1) and pursuant to GAR 72, before any future nomination will be accepted.
