Moonlight Jack was slow to begin.

Slingshot Sudoku and Winlock At Large collided soon after the start.  Winlock At Large and Myola Pocket collided approaching the first turn, checking Myola Pocket.  Blazing Rocks checked off Myola Pocket on the first turn, checking Moonlight Jack.  Stay Together galloped on the heels of Lektra Left on the first turn.  Slingshot Sudoku and Winlock At Large collided entering the home straight.

Trainer, Mr Michael Gibbons who had two reserves (Spring Empire and Power Burn) entered in this event, advised Stewards that Spring Empire (first reserve) was scratched at 2:18 pm on Wednesday, 22 December 2021 due to a pad injury.  This resulted in Powder Burn (second reserve) gaining a start.

Seen Better was quick to begin.

Aston Bomber, Mayfair Fantasy and Zipping Scorcher collided approaching the first turn, checking Mayfair Fantasy.  Spring Candice checked off Seen Better on the first turn.  Aston Dynasty and Handsome Jack collided on the first turn; severely checking Handsome Jack.  Aston Bomber and Aston Dynasty collided on the home turn.

Handsome Jack underwent a post–race veterinary examination and was found to have abrasions to the right hindleg achilles.  No stand down period was imposed.

A post–sample was taken from Zipping Schorcher – the winner of the event.

Lektra Rhino and Zara's Princess collided on the first turn, checking Lektra Rhino.  Rather and Nicmac Miss collided on the first turn, checking Rather.which collided with Narcissus resulting in Lektra Rhino being checked  and causing Rather to  stumble. 

Rather underwent a post–race veterinary examination and was found to have a left foreleg wrist injury.  A five day stand down period was imposed.

Zealous Alex was quick to begin.  Orson Avery was slow to begin.

Mepunga Stellar and Where's Goose collided in the back straight.  Where's Goose and Orson Avery collided approaching the first turn.  Outlaw Ethics and Happy Lass collided on the first turn, checking Happy Lass.  Happy Lass checked off Where's Goose approaching the home turn.  Tapering Off checked off Where's Goose entering the home straight.

Ledgerwood Libby checked off Myola Sunrise approaching the first turn.  Blue Yaala and Jaggered collided on the first turn.  Blue Yaala checked off Jaggered on the home turn.  Myola Sunrise and Yussuf Bale collided on the home turn and again entering the home straight.  Myola Sunrise and Ledgerwood Libby raced wide in the home straight.

Trainer, Mr Jeff Britton who had two runners (Mepunga Mustang and Weblec Falm) engaged in this event, advised Stewards that Mepunga Mustang was scratched at 8:24 am due to illness.

Vindicated was quick to begin.

Emerald Green and Destroy We Said collided soon after the start.  Accomplishment and Weblec Flame collided approaching the first turn.  Toolong Tiger and Postman Pickett collided several times from the first turn to the home turn; checking both greyhounds.  Emerald Green and Accomplishment collided entering the home straight, checking Accomplishment.  Destroy We Said, Toolong Tiger and Postman Picket collided entering the home straight, checking Destroy We Said.  Emerald Green and Accomplishment collided in the home straight.

Spring Scout stumbled at box rise and lost considerable ground.  Blackpool Bolt crossed to the rail soon after the start; checking Jen Jumbo Prawn, Like A Librarian, Happy Ruby and Tan Star.  On The Bit checked off Blackpool Bolt in the back straight, checking Tan Star.  Like A Librarian checked off Spun Out approaching the first turn.  On The Bit, Tan Star and Blackpool Bolt collided on the first turn.  Spring Scout checked off Jen Jumbo Prawn approaching the home turn.  On The Bit and Tan Star collided on the home turn.  Spring Scout and Jen Jumbo Prawn collided in the home straight.

Spring Scout underwent a post–race veterinary examination  – no apparent injury was reported.
