Steward's Report
All persons attending today, checked-in and provided satisfactory evidence of double vaccination or exemption under the State Government’s mandatory vaccination directions (as of 26 November 2021) that in-turn, permitted entry to the venue.
Princess Peggy was slow to begin.
Dementor checked off Despicable Rin soon after the start causing Dementor to race wide. Despicable Rin marred Derry Girl at the 275m mark. Despicable Rin turned its head outwards at the 250m mark and collided with Derry Girl. Despicable Rin and Derry Girl collided approaching the 150m mark. Despicable Rin marred Derry Girl at the 100m mark. Despicable Rin and Derry Girl collided several times from the 100m mark to approaching the winning post.
Princess Peggy underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have a left carpal sprain. A 5 day stand down period was imposed.
Despicable Rin underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have a right sesamoid injury. A 7 day stand down period was imposed. Stewards spoke to Mr Jihad Talgi, the trainer regarding the greyhound’s racing manners at the 275m mark and the 100m mark. Acting under the provisions of GAR 69(1) Despicable Rin was charged with marring. Mr. Talgi pleaded guilty to the charge, Despicable Rin was found guilty and suspended for 28 days at Healesville and must perform a Satisfactory Trial in accordance with GAR 69(2) and pursuant to GAR 72, before any future nomination will be accepted.
Stewards spoke to Ms Shara Quinlan regarding the racing manners of Dementor approaching the winning post. After hearing evidence from Ms. Quinlan, viewing all the available race footage and acting on their observations, Stewards took no further action.
