Steward's Report
Sarah's Shout was quick to begin.
Levi Bale and Jye's Jet collided soon after the start. Starfleet and Levi Bale collided soon after the start. Jye's Jet galloped on Mepunga Hayles soon after the start checking Mepunga Hayles. Jye's Jet contacted the running rail on the first turn. Levi Bale shifted out on the first turn and raced wide as a result. Starfleet and Defensible collided on the first turn. Levi Bale checked off Defensible on the second turn and raced wide as a result.
Levi Bale underwent a post-race veterinary examination. It was reported that the greyhound sustained injuries to the right calf and left hamstring, a 7 day stand down period was imposed. Stewards queried Kennel Representative Mr. Thomas Dailly regarding the poor performance of Levi Bale in this event. Mr. Dailly expressed his disappointment at the greyhound's run and advised Stewards that the greyhound was stepping up in distance as well as racing at The Meadows for the first time. Mr. Dailly advised Stewards that he will trial the greyhound before any future nominations at this track and distance. Stewards accepted the explanation provided by Mr. Dailly and attributed the greyhound's performance to its relative inexperience and the injury sustained during running. In accordance with GAR 75 (1), the Stewards requested Mr. Dailly to report as soon as practicable anything that may have affected the running of Levi Bale in the event, which was not noted by Stewards during or immediately after the event.
Jye's Jet underwent a post-race veterinary examination - no apparent injury was reported.
