Steward's Report

In accordance with the GRV Hot Weather Policy, this meeting was deemed 'Heat Affected'.  At the commencement of kennelling, the outside temperature was 32.8 degrees and the kennel temperature was 18.6 degrees.  The Stewards continually monitored the temperature at the venue as per the GRV Hot Weather Policy. 

All persons attending today undertook successful health screenings, wore facemasks, checked in, observed social distance requirements and provided satisfactory evidence of double vaccination or exemption under the State Government’s mandatory vaccination directions (as of 26 November 2021) that in-turn, permitted entry to the venue.
A pre-race sample was taken from Emerald Hill.
Emerald Hill, Yulong Yap and Papalia Bale collided soon after the start checking Yulong Yap. Papalia Bale and Prince Of Idol collided approaching the first turn. Yulong Yap and Papalia Bale collided on the first turn checking Yulong Yap. Yulong Yap checked off Prince Of Idol on the second turn. Quest For More visibly eased entering the back straight and collided with Emerald Hill. Quest For More and Emerald Hill collided several times in the back straight. Prince Of Idol lost ground in the back straight. Quest For More and Emerald Hill collided on the third turn checking both greyhounds. Papalia Bale visibly eased approaching the home turn. Quest For More, Emerald Hill and Yulong Yap collided approaching the home turn. Quest For More visibly eased on the home turn checking Emerald Hill and Papalia Bale. Yulong Yap turned it's head inwards entering the home straight. Quest For More turned it's head outwards and marred Yulong Yap entering the home straight severely checking both greyhounds.
Mr. Brayden Klemke, the representative of Quest For More, declined a post-race veterinary examination of the greyhound.
Stewards spoke to Mr. Brayden Klemke, the representative of Quest For More regarding the greyhound’s racing manners entering the home straight.  Acting under the provisions of GAR 69(1) Quest For More was charged with marring.  Mr. Klemke pleaded guilty to the charge, Quest For More was found guilty and suspended for 3 months at Shepparton and must perform a Satisfactory Trial in accordance with GAR 69(2) and pursuant to GAR 72, before any future nomination will be accepted.
Yulong Yap underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have an abraded left stopper. A 3 day stand down period was imposed. Stewards spoke to Mr. Raymond Henness regarding the racing manners of Yulong Yap entering the home straight.  After hearing evidence from Mr. Henness, viewing all the available race footage and acting on their observations, a warning was issued regarding the greyhound’s racing manners entering the home straight.  In asesssing this matter stewards took into account the interference suffered to Yulong Yap at this stage of the race.
Papalia Bale underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have split webbing to the left hind paw. A 3 day stand down period was imposed. Stewards spoke to trainer, Mr. Shane Drummond regarding the greyhounds racing manners on the home turn.  Acting under the provisions of GAR 69B (1), Papalia Bale was charged with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment (by reason of injury).  Mr. Drummond pleaded guilty to the charge, Papalia Bale was found guilty and must perform a Satisfactory Trial  in accordance with GAR 69B (1) and pursuant to GAR 72, before any future nomination will be accepted.
Prince Of Idol underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have injuries to the left hind limb and right hind limb and triangle. A 7 day stand down period was imposed.
