Steward's Report
A pre-race sample was unable to be obtained from Oriental Elsa. A post-race sample was subsequently taken.
Oriental Elsa was quick to begin. Smooth Cruiser and Hurricane Karin was slow to begin.
Willow's Friend and Mileena collided soon after the start. Smooth Cruiser and Miss Piccalilli collided approaching the first turn. Willow's Friend checked off Smooth Cruiser on the first turn. Willow's Friend crossed out on the home turn and checked off Smooth Cruiser. Loyal Gem visibly eased and turned its head inwards approaching the winning post and collided with Oriental Elsa.
Loyal Gem underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have a right foreleg monkey muscle injury. A 10 day stand down period was imposed. Stewards spoke to Trainer Mrs. Lesley Russell regarding the greyhound's racing manners approaching the winning post. Acting under the provisions of GAR 69B(1), Loyal Gem was charged with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment (by reason of injury). Mrs. Russell pleaded guilty to the charge and Loyal Gem must perform a Satisfactory Trial in accordance with GAR 69B(1) and pursuant to GAR 72, before any future nomination will be accepted.
