A pre-race sample was taken from Rooney.
Memphis Rock, Aston Jive, Jackie’s Lass, Gotham Diva and Gotham Baron collided soon after the start checking Gotham Baron and Jackie’s Lass. Afternoon crossed out approaching the first turn causing Gotham Diva to gallop on Afternoon severely checking Afternoon, Jackie’s Lass and Aston Jive, checking Gotham Baron and Memphis Rock. Gotham Baron was checked off Memphis Rock approaching the home turn causing Gotham Baron and Aston Jive to collide checking Aston Jive. Gotham Baron and Jackie’s Lass collided in the home straight.
Afternoon underwent a post race veterinary examination and was found to have an injured right groin and a spike wound on the right acilles’ tendon. A 3 day stand down period was imposed.
