A sample was taken from Crackerjack Phil upon arrival at the course.
Sugar Shane and Big Boy Brooke were slow to begin.
Soda Saville, Aston Jonas, Sugar Shane and Big Boy Brooke collided soon after the start, checking Soda Saville, Aston Jonas and Sugar Shane. Aston Jonas checked off Soda Saville approaching the first turn. Big Boy Brooke checked off Crackerjack Phil approaching the first turn. Crackerjack Phil checked off Barefoot Barry on the first turn. Soda Saville checked off Crackerjack Phil approaching the home turn, causing Soda Saville to race wide. Barefoot Barry checked off Big Boy Brooke in the home straight.
Big Boy Brooke underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have spike wounds to the right front and hind legs. No stand down period was imposed. Stewards spoke to Ms Deb Carr regarding the greyhound's racing manners in the home straight. After hearing evidence from Ms Carr, viewing all the available race footage and acting on their observations, a warning was issued regarding the greyhound’s racing manners in the home straight.
