Steward's Report
An out of competition sample was taken from Wizardry Things on the 21st September pursuant to GAR 79A.
Gracie's Joy was quick to begin. Audenzia was slow to begin. Gracie's Joy and Wizardry Things collided approaching the first turn, on the first turn and again on the second turn. Audenzia checked off Gracie's Joy approaching the third turn. Gracie's Joy severely checked off Wizardry Things on the third turn and raced wide entering the home straight. Tiggerlong Water was clipped on the heals when approaching the home turn, then shortly after eased and turned its head outwards on the home turn. Wizardry Things marred Tiggerlong Water when rounding the home turn and entering the home straight. Spray On Billy shifted inwards checking Audenzia when entering the home straight and then marred Wizadry Things and Tiggerlong Water
Wizardry Things underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have left shin soreness. A 10 day stand down period was imposed. Stewards spoke to representative Mr Brad Keel regarding the greyhound’s racing manners on the home turn. Acting under the provisions of GAR 69(1) Wizardry Things was charged with marring. Mr Keel pleaded not guilty to the charge, Wizardry Things was found guilty and suspended for 28 days at Sandown Park and must perform a Satisfactory Trial in accordance with GAR 69(2) and pursuant to GAR 72, before any future nomination will be accepted.
Tiggerlong Water underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have a right shoulder injury and right shin soreness. A 14 day stand down period was imposed. Stewards spoke to Representative, Mr Correy Grenfell regarding the greyhounds racing manners on the home turn. Acting under the provisions of GAR 69B (1), Tiggerlong Water was charged with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment (by reason of injury). Mr Grenfell pleaded not guilty to the charge, Tiggerlong Water was found guilty and must perform a Satisfactory Trial in accordance with GAR 69B (1) and GAR 72, before any future nomination will be accepted.
Spray On Billy underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have a right wrist sprain. A 7 day stand down period was imposed. Stewards spoke to Trainer Mr Gary Cowcher regarding the greyhound’s racing manners on the home turn and entering the home straight. Acting under the provisions of GAR 69(1) Spray On Billy was charged with marring. Mr Cowcher pleaded guilty to the charge and was suspended for 28 days at Sandown Park and must perform a Satisfactory Trial in accordance with GAR 69(2) and pursuant to GAR 72, before any future nomination will be accepted.
