In The Spotlight was quick to begin. Tiggerlong Jet, Aston Pride and Invictus Benson collided approaching the first turn checking Aston Pride. Invictus Benson and Tiggerlong Jet collided on the first turn checking Invictus Benson.

Aston Pride underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have a laceration on the left hind leg. A 21 day stand down period was imposed.

Tiggerlong Jet underwent a post-race veterinary examination following a fall after the winning post and was found to have bruising and abrasions to the left fore, hind legs and the right hind leg. A 7 day stand down period was imposed.
