Westcott Bale - New declared weight of 36.6 kg, last raced at 37.8 kg.
Nightcore, Sambar Chief and Tobin Frost were slow to begin.
Rio Baskin and Lisa Be Naughty collided approaching the first turn checking Rio Baskin. Nightcore, Sambar Chief and Burning Amy collided approaching the first turn severely checking Nightcore which contacted the running rail as a result. Sambar Chief, Rio Baskin and Westcott Bale collided on the first turn and again approaching the home turn checking Rio Baskin. Sambar Chief and Lisa Be Naughty collided entering the home straight. Wescott Bale turned its head inwards and visibly eased in the home straight, again approaching the winning post and collided with Lisa Be Naughty.
Nightcore underwent a post-race veterinary examination at the trainers request and was found to have a lacerated antebrachium. A 10 day stand down period was imposed.
Westcott Bale underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have a cervico-thoratic injury. A 3 day stand down period was imposed.
Stewards spoke to Mr Brian Fothergill, the trainer of Westcott Bale regarding the greyhound’s racing manners in the home straight. Acting under the provisions of GAR 69A(1) Westcott Bale was charged with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment. Mr Fothergill pleaded guilty to the charge, Westcott Bale was found guilty and suspended for 28 days at Shepparton and must perform a Satisfactory Trial in accordance with GAR 69A (2) and pursuant to GAR 72, before any future nomination will be accepted.
