Jets To Burn – New declared weight of 26.3kg, last raced at 27.6kg.
Twilight Limit was quick to begin. Sparkle Debacle was slow to begin. Twilight Limit turned it's head outwards, crossed to the outside soon after the start and collided with Tinker Joy, checking both greyhounds. Jets To Burn and Sparkle Debacle collided on the first turn checking Sparkle Debacle. Three Kisses and Cruising Four collided on the first turn checking Cruising Four and Aussie Onyx. Cruising Four checked off Moon Shine on the home turn. Sparkle Debacle and Tinker Joy collided on the home turn severely checking Sparkle Debacle. Aussie Onyx checked off Twilight Limit on the home turn. Moon Shine and Cruising Four collided approaching the winning post.
Twilight Limit underwent a post-race veterinary examination and revetted following race 5. Twilight Limit was found to have injuries to both monkey muscles. A 14 day stand down period was imposed. Stewards spoke to Mr. Sean Van Taarling trainer, regarding the greyhounds racing manners soon after the start. Acting under the provisions of GAR 69B (1), Twilight Limit was charged with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment (by reason of injury). Mr. Van Taarling pleaded guilty to the charge, Twilight Limit was found guilty and must perform a Satisfactory Trial in accordance with GAR 69B (1) and pursuant to GAR 72, before any future nomination will be accepted.
Cruising Four underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have a spike wound to the left forelimb. A 3 day stand down period was imposed.
Stewards spoke to Mr. Barry Hall regarding the racing manners of Cruising Four approaching the winning post. After hearing evidence from Mr. Hall, viewing all the available race footage and acting on their observations, a warning was issued regarding the greyhound’s racing manners approaching the winning post.
There was no head on vision for this event.
