Steward's Report

All persons attending the venue today undertook successful health screenings, carried face-masks, observed social distance requirements and maintained room density quotients for the race meeting.

A pre-race sample was taken from Riverdale Poppy. 

Very Elegant was quick to begin. Riverdale Poppy was slow to begin.

Very Elegant, Riverdale Ella and Nova Star collided approaching the first turn checkig Riverdale Ella. Blinken Lily and Riverdale Ella collided approaching the home turn checking Blinken Lily. Nova Star raced wide on the home turn and lost ground. Very Elegant and Nova Star collided several times in the home straight checking both greyhounds. Blinken Lily checked off Nova Star approaching the winning post checking Blinken Lily.

Nova Star underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was re-examined following race 3, no apparent injury could be detected. Stewards spoke to Mr Kevin Ward, the trainer of Nova Star regarding its performance on the home turn.  Stewards deemed the performance unsatisfactory, acting in accordance with GAR 71, Nova Star must perform a Satisfactory Trial pursuant to GAR 72, before any future nomination will be accepted.

Stewards spoke to Mr Kevin Ward, the trainer of Nova Star regarding the greyhounds racing manners on the home turn and in the home straight. In accordance with GAR 75 (1), the Stewards requested Mr Kevin Ward to report as soon as practicable anything that may have affected the running of Nova Star in the event, which was not noted by Stewards during or immediately after the event.

Supplementary Report 28.02.21

Mr Kevin Ward reported to Stewards: the greyhound Nova Star was examined by Dr M Bell on 28.02.21 and was found to have soreness of the left fore monkey muscle and right hind triangle muscle. Recommended stand down period 7 days. Veterinary certificate received.
