Golden Charm was slow to begin.
Tommy Cawbourne and Big Leigh collided soon after the start; checking Big Leigh and Cawbourne Gout. Big Leigh and Golden Charm collided on the first turn; severely checking Big Leigh, which lost ground. Cawbourne Gout, Tommy Cawbourne and Golden Charm collided approaching the home turn.
Big Leigh underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have a left foreleg deltoid muscle injury. A seven day stand down period was imposed.
