Steward's Report
Sweet Sandy and Misty Arandt were quick to begin. Lektra Roll was slow to begin. Super Harry was very slow to begin (6L).
Don't Forget Kev and Lektra Little collided approaching the first turn. Don't Forget Kev, Misty Arandt and Lektra Little collided on the first turn checking Misty Arandt and Lektra Roll. Lektra Roll and Lektra Little collided on the home turn checking both greyhounds. Lektra Little and Super Harry collided in the home straight. Rough Ride visibly eased approaching winning post and turned its head inwards. Will's Bella turned its head outwards approaching the winning post and collided with Rough Ride.
A post-race sample was taken from Will's Bella - the winner of the event.
Super Harry underwent a post-race veterinary examination - no apparent injury was reported. Stewards spoke to Trainer Mr K. Lloyd and issued a warning regarding the greyhound being very slow to begin.
Will's Bella underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have an abrasion to the right calf and a left foreleg wrist injury, a seven day stand down period was imposed. Stewards spoke to trainer Colin Baker, regarding the greyhounds racing manners approaching the winning post. Acting under the provisions of GAR 69(B)(1), Will's Bella was charged with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment (by reason of injury). Mr Baker pleaded not guilty to the charge, Will's Bella was found guilty and must perform a Satisfactory Trial pursuant to GAR 69(B)(1)(a) before any
Rough Ride underwent a post-race veterinary examination - no apparent injury was reported. Trainer Mr Higgins declined the offer of a re-vet. Stewards spoke to John Higgins, regarding the greyhounds racing manners approaching the winning post. Acting under the provisions of GAR 69(A)(1) Rough Ride was charged with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment. Mr Higgins pleaded guilty to the charge, Rough Ride is suspended for 28 days at Ballarat and must perform a Satisfactory Trial pursuant to GAR 69(A)(2)(a) before any future nomination will be accepted.
