Steward's Report
All persons attending the venue today carried face-masks, observed social distance requirements and maintained room density quotients for the race meeting.
Track curator Mr T. Godfrey advised that the track was deep harrowed, graded and top dressed on Friday 26 February 2021.
Whakahoro was slow to begin.
Sitizano Rocks, Shivers and Wedding Or Baby collided soon after the start. Little Yaala and Wedding Or Baby collided on the first turn. Sitizano Rocks and Shivers collided on the second turn checking Shivers. Snapper Smith turned its head inwards, visibly eased and collided with Girls Got Rhythm approaching the winning post.
Snapper Smith underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have a left wrist fracture and abrasions to the left forelimb. A 90 day stand down period was imposed. Stewards spoke to trainer Mr. Clint Capuano, regarding the greyhounds racing manners approaching the winning post. Acting under the provisions of GAR 69B (1), Snapper Smith was charged with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment (by reason of injury). Mr. Capuano pleaded not guilty to the charge, Snapper Smith was found guilty and must perform a Satisfactory Trial in accordance with GAR 69B (1) and GAR 72, before any future nomination will be accepted.
Girls Got Rhythm underwent a post-race veterinary examination, at the trainer’s request, and was found to have a right hind toe dislocation. A 7 day stand down period was imposed.
A post-race sample was taken from Snapper Smith - winner of the event.
