Steward's Report
All staff and participants attending the race meeting wore face masks at all times when inside the kennel block and associated buildings, and when engaged in the exclusive race day functions of handling, boxing, starting and catching greyhounds.
In Trinity was slow to begin.
Maverick Blaze and Lady Zeeva collided approaching the first turn. Lady Swiss and Bissaka Spider collided approaching the first turn. In Trinity and Lady Swiss collided on the first turn. Lady Zeeva and Son Of Beanbag raced wide on the home turn. Lady Zeeva turned its head inwards entering the home straight. Lady Zeeva eased approaching the winning post.
Lady Zeeva underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was re-examined following race 3, no apparent injury could be detected. Stewards spoke to Mr John Van Konynenburg, the trainer of Lady Zeeva regarding the greyhound’s racing manners entering the home straight. Acting under the provisions of GAR 69A(1) Lady Zeeva was charged with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment. Mr Van Konynenburg pleaded guilty to the charge, Lady Zeeva was found guilty and suspended for 28 days at Cranbourne and must perform a Satisfactory Trial in accordance with GAR 69A (2) and pursuant to GAR 72, before any future nomination will be accepted.
