Classy Stringer and Pepe Power were slow to begin.
Loves The Surf and Powder Burn collided soon after the start. Powder Burn, Curnow's Blues and Prinny Arandt collided approaching the first turn checking all three greyhounds. Classy Stringer galloped on the heels of Zipping Poh on the first turn checking both greyhounds. Zipping Poh and Powder Burn collided approaching the home turn checking Powder Burn and Prinny Arandt. Georgio Bale clipped the heels of Loves The Surf entering the home straight, checking Loves The Surf and severely checking Georgio Bale which stumbled. Georgio Bale was tailed off as a result. Zipping Poh raced wide in the home straight.
Georgio Bale underwent a post-race veterinary examination - no apparent injury was reported.
