Steward's Report
All staff & participants attending the race meeting wore face masks at all times when inside the kennel block and associated buildings, and when engaged in the exclusive race day functions of handling, boxing, starting and catching greyhounds.
A pre-race sample was taken from Jerry Buzzard.
Don't Know Jake and So Very Nice were slow to begin.
Fernando's Pride and Jerry Buzzard collided soon after the start. Blazin' Cool and Paetta Bale collided at the 250m mark. Fernando's Pride checked off Jerry Buzzard at the 250m mark. Blazin' Cool and Jerry Buzzard collided several times from the 200m mark to the 100m mark. Crystal Edition and Mt. View Ginger collided at the 150m mark. Crystal Edition checked off Mt. View Ginger at the 100m mark. Mt. View Ginger and Crystal Edition collided at the 50m mark.
Stewards spoke to trainer, Mr D Petersen regarding the improved performance of Don't Know Jake today. Mr Petersen advised that the greyhound is better suited to an inside draw and had an uninterupted run. Mr Petersen also advised that he expected a forward showing today as a result of the draw. Stewards noted Mr Petersen's comments. A post-race sample was taken from Don't Know Jake - the winner of the event.
