Steward's Report
Coconut Miss was quick to begin.
Grace Cabang and Jump Into Action collided soon after the start. Jump Into Action, Freda Rocks and Poppy Passion collided on the first turn; checking all three greyhounds. Freda Rocks checked off Prince Of Idol approaching the back straight, checking Poppy Passion. Prince Of Idol and Freda Rocks collided on the second turn, checking Prince Of Idol. Freda Rocks shifted out and marred Jump Into Action on the home turn; causing both greyhounds to collide several times on the home turn. Jump Into Action and Freda Rocks collided in the home straight and again approaching the winning post.
Freda Rocks underwent a post-race veterinary examination - no apparent injury was reported.
Stewards spoke to Mr M Briganti, the trainer of Freda Rocks regarding the greyhound’s racing manners on the home turn. Acting under the provisions of GAR 69(1) Freda Rocks was charged with marring. Mr Briganti pleaded guilty to the charge, Freda Rocks was found guilty and suspended for 28 days at Shepparton and must perform a Satisfactory Trial in accordance with GAR 69(2) and pursuant to GAR 72, before any future nomination will be accepted.
A post-race sample was taken from Coconut Miss - the winner of the event.
