Steward's Report
Black Avenger was quick to begin. Harrigan and Barwidgi were slow to begin. Tom The Cheap and Black Avenger collided approaching the first turn. Tom The Cheap, Black Avenger and Dr. Francisco collided on the first turn. Black Avenger and Dr. Francisco collided on the first turn checking both greyhounds. Dr. Wade and Dr. Francisco collided on the home turn. Tom The Cheap turned its head inwards several times in the home straight and collided with Barwidgi. Black Avenger was checked off Tom The Cheap in the home straight causing Black Avenger to collide with Harrigan.
Tom The Cheap underwent a post race veterinary examination and found to have an injured right triangle muscle. A 5 day stand down period was imposed. Stewards spoke to trainer, Ms. R. Gibbons regarding the greyhound’s racing manners in the home straight. Acting under the provisions of GAR 69B (1) Tom The Cheap was charged with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment (by reason of injury). Ms. Gibbons pleaded guilty to the charge, Tom The Cheap was found guilty and must perform a satisfactory trial in accordance with GAR 69B (1) and pursuant to GAR 72 before any future nomination will be accepted.
