Brent's Delight was slow to begin.
Simon Says and Aubameyang collided soon after the start. Aston Phoenix, Simon Says, Aubameyang and Don't Know Jake collided soon after the start. Aston Phoenix, Simon Says and Don't Know Jake collided at the 250m mark checking Simon Says and Don't Know Jake. Aston Phoenix and Dusty Knight collided at the 200m mark. Don't Know Jake checked off Simon Says at the 100m mark checking Brent's Delight. Aston Phoenix marred Dusty Knight at the 150m mark and again at the 50m mark severely checking Dusty Knight.
Aston Phoenix underwent a post-race veterinary examination - no apparent injury was reported. Stewards spoke to representative, Mr D. Cortese regarding the greyhound’s racing manners at the 150m mark. Acting under the provisions of GAR 69(1) Aston Phoenix was charged with marring. Mr Cortese pleaded guiltyto the charge, Aston Phoenix was found guilty and suspended for 28 days at Healesville and must perform a Satisfactory Trial in accordance with GAR 69(2) and pursuant to GAR 72, before any future nomination will be accepted.
