Steward's Report
A pre-race sample was taken from Chelsea's Love.
Lethal Hawk, Romeo Lad and Pennine Way were slow to begin.
Flashy De Goey crossed the rail soon after the start checking Sarcasmic and Steinmark. Steinmark visibly eased approaching the first turn and tailed off. Romeo Lad raced wide on the second turn.
Steinmark underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have no apparent injury. Mr. Steven Curtain declined the option to have the greyhound re-vetted. Stewards spoke to Mr. Curtain, the trainer of Steinmark regarding the greyhound’s racing manners approaching the first turn. Acting under the provisions of GAR 69A(1) Steinmark was charged with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment. Mr. Curtain pleaded guilty to the charge, Steinmark was found guilty and suspended for 28 days at Cranbourne and must perform a Satisfactory Trial in accordance with GAR 69A (2) and pursuant to GAR 72, before any future nomination will be accepted.
Flashy De Goey underwent a post-race veterinary examination at the trainer’s request and was found to have a right back muscle injury and a right wrist sprain. A 5 day stand down period was imposed.
