Due to Government Social Distancing Laws under COVID-19 and acting in accordance with GAR 51 (10), the Stewards have directed that the boxing process in Victoria will continue under the 4-wave model being 1 & 5 boxed first, followed by 3 & 7, followed by 2 & 6, followed by 4 & 8. Handlers are required to exit the area after boxing and maintain their 1.5m distance from other handlers and staff at all times.
All persons (both Staff & Participants) attending today, undertook successful health screenings and wore facemasks that in-turn, permitted entry to the venue for exclusive race-day functions and operations.
Little Winnie, Lily Rose Jazz and Head Bouncer were slow to begin.
Roller Derby and Recinder Jack collided soon after the start. Roller Derby, Recinder Jack and She's A Looker collided approaching the 250m mark. Little Winnie crossed out at the 250m mark checking Roller Derby, Recinder Jack and She's A Looker. Little Winnie turned it's head to the outside and visibly eased at the 200m mark; checking Roller Derby, Lily Rose Jazz and She's A Looker. Roller Derby, Recinder Jack and Head Bouncer collided at the 150m mark checking Roller Derby which lost ground. Recinder Jack and Head Bouncer collided at the 100m mark. Head Bouncer checked off Recinder Jack at the 50m mark.
Little Winnie underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have an injury to the right pectoral muscle. A 7 day stand down period was imposed. Stewards spoke to Mr Gary Cowcher, the Trainer of Little Winnie regarding the greyhound’s racing manners at the 200m mark. Acting under the provisions of GAR 69A(1) Little Winnie was charged with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment. Mr Cowcher pleaded guilty to the charge, Little Winnie was found guilty and suspended for 28 days at Healesville and must perform a Satisfactory Trial in accordance with GAR 69A (2) and pursuant to GAR 72, before any future nomination will be accepted.
Roller Derby underwent a post-race veterinary examination - no appparent injury was reported.
