Steward's Report
Leather And Lace and Masalki were slow to begin.
Eleora Bale checked off Wee Fishin' soon after the start. Banjo Bert and Free Gift collided soon after the start. Banjo Bert and Sherwood Bale collided soon after the start; checking both greyhounds. Sherwood Bale, Banjo Bert and Masalki collided approaching the first turn; checking Sherwood Bale, Leather And Lace and Masalki; and Banjo Bret which became unbalanced. Sherwood Bale and Masalki collided approaching the home turn; checking Sherwood Bale, Leather And Lace and Masalki. Free Gift eased and turned it's head inwards in the home straight and collided with Banjo Bert.
Free Gift underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have right hindleg back muscle and pencil/whip injuries, a 14 day stand down period was imposed. Stewards spoke to trainer, Mr N Lenehan regarding the greyhounds racing manners in the home straight. Acting under the provisions of GAR 69B (1), Free Gift was charged with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment (by reason of injury). Mr Lenehan pleaded guilty to the charge, Free Gift was found guilty and must perform a Satisfactory Trial in accordance with GAR 69B (1) and pursuant to GAR 72, before any future nomination will be accepted.
