Steward's Report
A pre-race sample was taken from Big Jo.
Gamma Bale was slow to begin.
Ovens Angler and Poppo's Grinning collided soon after the start. Ovens Angler and Big Jo collided approching the first turn. Poppo's Grinning checked off Ovens Angler approaching the first turn. Ovens Angler and Gamma Bale collided approaching the first turn and again on the first turn. Big Jo and End Game collided on the first turn. Poppo's Grinning faltered entering the back straight and lost ground. Break The Chains and Ovens Angler collided in the home straight.
Poppo's Grinning underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have a left triangle injury, a 14 day stand down period was imposed. Stewards spoke to trainer Mr Trevor Whitford, regarding the greyhounds racing manners entering the back straight. Acting under the provisions of GAR 69(B)(1), Poppo's Grinning was charged with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment (by reason of injury). Mr Whitford pleaded guilty to the charge, Poppo's Grinning must perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks) pursuant to GAR 69(B)(1)(a) before any future nomination will be accepted.
