Steward's Report
A pre-race sample was taken from Little Queeny.
Taiepa was quick to begin. Lightning Artist, Brinlee, Another Episode and Mepunga Fairy collided soon after the start checking Lightning Artist and Brinlee. Mepunga Fairy and Another Episode collided on the first turn checking Mepunga Fairy, Another Episode and Brinlee. Spyglass checked off Graphic Design entering the back straight. Lightning Artist galloped on Mepunga Fairy on the second turn. Taiepa and Graphic Design collided approaching the home turn checking Taiepa. Brinlee visibly eased, turned its head inwards and collided with Little Queeny entering the home straight.
Taiepa underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have sand toe on the right fore and right hind paws. A 5 day stand down period was imposed.
Brinlee underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was re-examined following race 7- no apparent injury was reported. Stewards spoke to representative Mr Joe Borg regarding the greyhound's racing manners entering the home straight. Acting under the provisions of GAR 69(A)(1) Brinlee was charged with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment. Mr Borg pleaded guilty to the charge, Brinlee is suspended for 28 days at Ballarat only and must perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks), pursuant to GAR 69(A)(2)(a) before any future nomination will be accepted.
