Due to Government Social Distancing Laws under COVID-19 and acting in accordance with GAR 51 (10), the Stewards have directed that the boxing process in Victoria will revert to and continue under the 4-wave model being 1 & 5 boxed first, followed by 3 & 7, followed by 2 & 6, followed by 4 & 8.  Handlers are required to exit the area after boxing and maintain their 1.5m distance from other handlers and staff at all times.

All persons (both Staff & Participants) attending today, undertook successful health screenings and wore face-masks/covers that in-turn, permitted entry to the venue for exclusive race-day functions and operations.

Mayhem's Quest was slow to begin.

Georgio Bale and Blue Bonnet collided on the first turn, checking Blue Bonnet.  Always Near checked off Fishbone Express approaching the home turn.  Always Near raced wide entering the home straight.

Rev Up Angel – Late scratching at 1:56 pm when Mrs H Hartigan reported the greyhound to have kennel cough (GAR 23).  A 10 day stand down period was imposed.  Stewards will require a veterinary certificate before any future nomination will be accepted. 

Wee Fishin' – New declared weight of 26.1 kgs, last raced at 24.6 kgs.

Mahogany Flame was slow to begin.

Tommy's No Angel and Russian Sub collided approaching the first turn.  Tommy's No Angel visably eased and turned its head outwards on the first turn, checking Russian Sub and Wee Fishin'.  Tommy's No Angel, Wee Fishin' and Russian Sub collided entering the home straight and again in the home straight, checking all three greyhounds.

Tommy's No Angel underwent a post-race veterinary examination - no apparent injury was reported.

Stewards spoke to Mr M Anstice, the trainer of Tommy's No Angel regarding the greyhounds racing manners on the first turn.  Acting under the provisions of GAR 69(A)(1) Tommy's No Angel was charged with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment.  Mr Anstice pleaded guilty to the charge, Tommy's No Angel is suspended for 28 days at Horsham and must perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks), pursuant to GAR 69(A)(2)(a) before any future nomination will be accepted.

Army Bale was slow to begin.

Perfect Chase checked off Work Zone on the first turn.  Work Zone checked off Javier Bale on the first turn.  Perfect Chase checked off Dashing Pedro in the home straight.

Nevada Phil went up with the lids at box rise and was slow to begin.

Bella Tash and Ferdinand Boy collided soon after the start, checking Bella Tash.  Grand Riot and Miss Verity collided approaching the first turn, checking Grant Riot.  Ferdinand Boy and Miss Verity collided on the first turn, checking Miss Verity and Maasai Mara.  Maasai Mara and Miss Verity collided approaching the home turn, checking both greyhounds.  Maasai Mara checked off Miss Verity on the home turn; checking Nevada Phil, which raced wide as a result.  Old Roy and All Mayhem collided approaching the winning post.

Aston Valkyrie – Late scratching at 1:24 pm due to non-arrival (GAR 31).  A 28 day stand down period was imposed.  Mr R Clark informed Stewards that he had a vehicle breakdown on-route to the track.  Stewards have advised Mr Clark that evidence of the breakdown will need to be submitted, to the satisfaction of Stewards, within 48 hours of the occurrence that caused the non-arrival.  The matter will be re-evaluated upon receipt of this evidence.

Zipping Trent was slow to begin.

My Word Shirley and Slingshot Reaper collided on the home turn, checking Slingshot Reaper.

Berry informed Stewards that he had a vehicle breakdown on-route to the track.  Stewards have advised both Mr. Clark and Mr. Berry that evidence of the breakdown will need to be submitted, to the satisfaction of Stewards, within 48 hours of the occurrence that caused the non-arrival.  The matter will be re-evaluated upon receipt of this evidence.
