The start of this event was delayed approximately four minutes due to greyhounds 1, 3, 5 and 7 having to be removed from the starting boxes after it was determined the number three (3) greyhound Dreamliner was placed in the incorrect starting box. These four greyhounds underwent veterinary examinations and were passed suitable to race. At a subsequent inquiry evidence was taken from the Starter, Steward at the start and the Trainer of Dreamliner, Mr Kevin Quinn. After considering all the evidence Mr Quinn pleaded guilty to a charge pursuant to GAR86(o) in that he placed the number three (3) greyhound Dreamliner into box number four (4) which in the opinion of Stewards was negligent. Mr Quinn was fined $200.

Zipping Ester turned in the box and lost significant ground. Pyrenees Classic checked off Saint Ray approaching the first turn. Saint Ray, Pyrenees Inferno and Micky Rads collided on the first turn checking Pyrenees Inferno, Dreamliner and Micky Rads which raced wide. Dreamliner collided with Rapid Rock on the first turn checking Dreamliner and Micky Rads. Pyrenees Inferno and Dreamliner raced wide on the home turn.

A post-race sample was taken from Saint Ray - the winner of the event.

Zipping Ester underwent a post-race veterinary examination - no apparent injury was reported.

Zipping Ester - Turned in the boxes and in the opinion of Stewards took no competitive part in the race. Stewards considered the submissions from Trainer Mr A.Wilcock in regards to the circumstances of this incident. Stewards determined that the releveant penalty should be imposed and as such the greyhound was placed on a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks) pursuant to GAR 52(1).
