Ivy Girl and Dont Tell Ange were quick to begin.
Staggermite and Tonk's Boy collided soon after the start, checking Tonk's Boy. Ivy Girl and Dont Tell Ange collided approaching the first turn, checking Dont Tell Ange. Starlight Ollie galloped on the heels of Dont Tell Ange on the first turn, checking Dont Tell Ange, Starlight Ollie and Tonk's Boy. Starlight Ollie galloped on the heels of Fernando Toy approaching the home turn, checking Fernando Toy, Starlight Ollie and Riverdale Bear. Tonk's Boy checked off Staggermite approaching the home turn. Staggermite and Dont Tell Ange colliided on the home turn. Fernando Toy galloped on the heels of Tonk's Boy in the home straight, severely checking Tonk's Boy.
Tonk's Boy underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was re-examined following race 3. Tonk's Boy was found to have spike wound to the left paw and bruising to the right hock. A 3 day stand down period was imposed. Stewards spoke to the trainer Mr K. Kubik, regarding the greyhound's racing manners in the home straight. Acting under the provisions of GAR 69B(1), Tonk's Boy was charged with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment (by reason of injury). Mr K. Kubic pleaded guilty to the charge, Tonk's Boy must perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks) pursuant to GAR 69B(1)(a) before any future nomination will be accepted.
