Steward's Report

Acting in accordance with the GRV Lightning and Thunderstorm Safety Procedure, racing was suspended at 2:44pm due to thunder and lightning strikes within the designated area. Due to safety concerns the meeting was delayed. The remainder of the program was put back two races with race 11 starting at 5:24 PM and race 12 starting at 5:39 PM.

Crown Yasmine and Mum's The Word were slow to begin.

Don's Scolari and Heart Beats True collided approaching the first turn checking Don's Scolari. Big Cam visibly eased on the first turn causing Bright Blue to stumble, checking Mum's The Word and Don's Scolari. Mum's The Word raced wide entering the home straight.

Bright Blue underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have spike wounds and a quadriceps injury to the left hindleg. A 10 day stand down period was imposed.

Big Cam underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have a monkey muscle injury to the right foreleg and a hip injury to the right hindleg. A 14 day stand down period was imposed. Stewards spoke to Mr B Jacobs, regarding the greyhounds racing manners approaching the first turn. Acting under the provisions of GAR 69(B)(1), Big Cam was charged with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment (by reason of injury). Mr Jacob pleaded not guilty to the charge, Big Cam was found guilty and must perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks) pursuant to GAR 69(B)(1)(a) before any future nomination will be accepted.

A post-race sample was taken from Aston Eureka - the winner of the event.
