Ultimatum and Warm It Up was slow to begin.
Scorsese checked off Big Merc soon after the start. Allen Gordy checked off Big Merc approaching the first turn. Warm It Up crossed to the rails on the first turn checking Allen Gordy, Giselle Bale, Ultimatum and Carlingford Finn. Big Merc eased approaching the home turn checking Abit Patchy and Warm It Up. Giselle Bale checked off Abit Patchy on the home turn. Carlingford Finn checked off Warm It Up on the home turn. Ultimatum and Big Merc collided entering the home straight. Scorsese checked off Carlingford Finn in the home straight checking Giselle Bale and Abit Patchy. Giselle Bale checked off Scorsese in the home straight.

Abit Patchy was vetted following the event. It was reported that there was no apparent injury.

Big Merc was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained a superficial spike wound to the left paw. No stand down period was imposed.

Stewards spoke to Mr. D. Fisher, the trainer of the greyhound Big Merc.  Stewards deemed the performance of Big Merc unsatisfactory in this event and acting in accordance with GAR 71, Stewards directed that Big Merc must perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks) before any future nomination will be accepted.
